Neeraj Chopra

Neeraj Chopra talked about Jasprit Bumrah and Brett Lee ahead of his event Neeraj Chopra Classic to be held in Bengaluru.

Ahead of the Neeraj Chopra Classic event to be held in Bengaluru, India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra spoke openly about cricketers. He said that Australian fast bowler Brett Lee would have performed brilliantly if he had thrown javelin, as he showed interest in javelin throw early in his career. Apart from this, Neeraj shared his thoughts with Jasprit Bumrah. He wants to learn bowling from Bumrah and in return wants to teach him javelin throwing.

Speaking to JioStar, the official broadcaster of the event, Neeraj said, “I heard that Brett Lee showed interest in javelin throw in his early days. I think he could have done wonders in javelin throw during his peak days. I would also like to throw javelin with Jasprit Bumrah and hope he teaches me some bowling techniques. Though bowling and javelin throw are both throwing arts, they are quite different.”

Neeraj Chopra: Wants Sachin Tendulkar’s superpower

When Neeraj was asked which cricketer’s superpower he would like to have for the perfect javelin throw, he named Sachin Tendulkar. Neeraj said, “Sachin Tendulkar has represented India brilliantly over the years and made many records. The way he faced great bowlers and performed consistently, I would like to have the same superpower. It will help me face challenges with a calm mind.”

Distance from superstitions and calm preparation

Talking about superstitions, Neeraj said, “I try to stay calm on the day of my event. I don’t think much but focus on giving my 100 percent. I focus on staying calm, eating good food and getting enough rest.” The event will be held on Saturday, July 5 at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
