Sarfaraz Khan Surprised Fans with His Omission from India’s England Tour Squad

When the Indian squad for the upcoming England Tour was announced, Sarfaraz Khan’s exclusion raised many eyebrows. Despite a promising debut last year against England, where he scored half-centuries in both innings of the first Test, and a standout 150 against New Zealand at home, Sarfaraz was left out. His century came in a series where India was whitewashed 0-3, but he still showed resilience when others struggled. Although included in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad, he didn’t get a game. For the England Tests, selectors opted for Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair, leaving Sarfaraz out of the squad.

Speaking to PTI, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed surprise and disappointment over Sarfaraz Khan’s exclusion from the England Test squad. “It’s very unfortunate… I was a bit shocked not seeing his name in the squad. I’m sure he will come back strong. He has got that will to make a comeback… All I can say is, don’t be disheartened, you will get your due, if not today, then tomorrow… Look at Karun Nair,” Harbhajan Singh said. He added, “He scored 300 runs against England and then never got too many opportunities. Now he is back in England with the team.”

The upcoming Test series marks a new era with Shubman Gill appointed as the new captain. With veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announcing Test retirements and R Ashwin quitting all formats, only Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant remain from the previous leadership group.
