Cricket South Africa has included five uncapped players in the Test squad for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe. On Friday, June 6, Cricket South Africa announced a strong 16-member squad for the two-Test series against Zimbabwe, scheduled to be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from June 28 to July 10.
Temba Bavuma will lead this young team, which features five players making their Test debut. Among them are Lhuan-dré Pretorius and Lesego Senokwane, who have received their first call-ups, along with fast bowler Codi Yusuf. These three were rewarded for their consistent performances in domestic cricket.
In addition, Dewald Brevis, who recently represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), has also been included among the uncapped players in the South African squad for the Zimbabwe Tests.
Brevis was the second-highest run-scorer in the domestic First-Class competition. Off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen has also secured a spot in the 16-member squad for the two-match series. Meanwhile, Zubayr Hamza will be making his comeback after last playing a Test in February of the previous year.
Notably, players such as Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, and Tristan Stubbs, who are part of South Africa’s squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final, have been rested. Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, and Lizaad Williams were not included in the selection.
