The former India cricketer responded that both Delhi Capitals and KL Rahul lack a dedicated fanbase, with their supporters appearing indifferent to their defeats.
Comparing KL Rahul and Sachin Tendulkar: Two Different Legacies

While both are opening batsmen, KL Rahul and Sachin Tendulkar share little else in common. Tendulkar is an all-time cricketing legend, holding records that have stood the test of time — from being the first to score an ODI double-century to amassing over 100 international centuries and the most runs in both Tests and ODIs. He is arguably the most complete batsman the sport has ever seen, second only to the legendary Don Bradman.
In contrast, Rahul’s international career, now in its 11th year, has yet to reach those heights. Despite a promising start, including a maiden Test century early on at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rahul has scored just 3,257 runs in 58 Tests. At 33, he has yet to complete 100 matches in any format, a far cry from the prodigious talent many expected a decade ago.
Former cricketer Atul Wassan made his stance clear when asked to compare Rahul with Tendulkar during the Bails and Banter Show on OTT Play. He dismissed the idea outright, joking, “If you talk about KL Rahul and Sachin Tendulkar in the same sentence, then I will go. TVs are getting shut down because KL Rahul is getting out? Who are these people?” Wassan also noted that Rahul’s team lacks a strong fanbase, with followers showing indifference toward its losses.
Sachin Tendulkar the captain

Looking back on the 1983 World Cup, a pivotal chapter in his cricketing journey, Atul Wassan fondly remembered sharing a room with the legendary captain Kapil Dev. Drawing from his experiences, Wassan contrasted the leadership styles of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. He noted Ganguly’s captaincy was defined by his bold personality, which not only boosted his own performance but also inspired the entire team with confidence and aggression.
