Only Jasprit\u00a0Bumrah\u00a0from the Mumbai Indians\u2019 IPL 2025 squad has been named in India\u2019s Test team. While there were speculations around the pace spearhead getting the captaincy duties, chief selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned that Bumrah is \u201cimportant\u201d as a player for them and they want to manage his workload to keep him fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also noted that Bumrah won\u2019t play all five matches during the tour. Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma announced his Test retirement earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t think he\u2019ll be available for all five Tests. Whether it\u2019s four or three, we\u2019ll see based on how the series goes and his workload is. The Indian selectors showed faith in\u00a0Arshdeep Singh\u00a0and handed him a call-up for the England tour as he joins Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and\u00a0Nitish Kumar Reddy\u00a0in the list of pacers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agarkar backed Arshdeep\u2019s inclusion in the squad and said that he\u2019ll help bring the variety in Bumrah’s absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tall guy, can bowl with the new ball, has body of work in red-ball cricket and in recent form in the last couple of years. Both cricketers have been a part of the Indian setup for quite some time now, with Jaiswal opening the innings in Tests of late. The two are also a part of India\u2019s A squad for the four-day warm-up match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#8 SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH): 1 player<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Nitish Kumar Reddy is the only player from SRH to make it to the Indian side. He\u2019ll play the role of a batting all-rounder, and Agarkar hopes for his bowling to come around well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many expected Hyderabad pacer Mohammad Shami to receive a call-back, Agarkar mentioned that the 34-year-old faced a setback over the past week and had some MRIs done, with his fitness not being up to the mark.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief selector noted that Shami couldn\u2019t have played all five Tests and the \u201cmedical guys told he\u2019ll be ruled out,\u201d which is why the latter wasn\u2019t picked in the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
