Indian cricket pacer Mohammed Shami has been ordered to pay INR 1.5 lakh to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and INR 2.5 lakh to their daughter.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shami is facing serious trouble as Hasin Jahan has accused him of refusing to provide basic financial support for her and their child. After alleging that Shami neglected his financial responsibilities, Hasin approached the Calcutta High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She challenged a 2023 sessions court ruling that had directed Shami to pay Rs 50,000 to her and Rs 80,000 to their daughter. The High Court reviewed the case and, considering Shami\u2019s income and financial capacity, increased the amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, 1st July, the court ordered Mohammed Shami to pay a total of INR 4 lakhs as maintenance to Hasin Jahan and their daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Calcutta High Court has ordered Mohammed Shami to pay interim maintenance of INR 1.5 lakh to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and INR 2.5 lakh to their daughter.<\/a> Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, in his ruling, noted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn light of the evidence presented, the previously fixed amount of interim monetary relief requires revision. The petitioner\u2019s wife, who remains unmarried and is living independently with their child, is entitled to maintenance consistent with what she received during the marriage, ensuring reasonable financial security for both her and the child\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hasin Jahan\u2019s lawyer, Imtiaz Ahmed, commented on the verdict, stating: \u201cThis is a significant moment for Hasin Jahan. From 2018 to 2024, she faced numerous struggles. Yesterday, in open court, it was declared that Rs 1.5 lakh per month will be paid to Hasin Jahan and Rs 2.5 lakh per month to their daughter. Additionally, any further assistance needed by their daughter will be provided by Mohammed Shami<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, \u201cThe High Court has directed the trial court to resolve the main maintenance application within six months. There is a strong possibility that the maintenance amount may be increased to Rs 6 lakh when the case returns to the trial court, as Hasin Jahan had originally claimed Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively in her petition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
