The second Test between India and England is set to begin on July 2 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.<\/a> As per journalist Rohit Juglan of Revsportz, the Indian team is expected to make several changes to their playing XI following their defeat in the opening match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Shubman Gill, India suffered a five-wicket loss in the first Test after failing to defend a 371-run target. England\u2019s openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, stitched together a commanding 188-run partnership, laying the foundation for a successful chase. Duckett\u2019s brilliant 149-run innings earned him the Player of the Match award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasprit Bumrah: Interestingly, four Indian batters notched up five centuries in the Headingley Test, propelling India to massive scores in both innings. However, the bowling unit\u2014apart from Jasprit Bumrah\u2019s five-wicket haul in the first innings\u2014fell short, ultimately costing them the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per a report by Revsportz, India are set to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the second Test at Edgbaston<\/a>. In his absence, pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are expected to retain their spots in the playing XI. Akash Deep is likely to be brought into the side, while Shardul Thakur will reportedly be replaced by Nitish Kumar Reddy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasprit Bumrah: Although Krishna took five wickets in the opening Test, he proved expensive, conceding runs at an economy rate of over six in both innings. Siraj managed two wickets in the first innings but went wicketless in the second. Thakur also took two wickets but struggled with his economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be rested for two of the five Tests on India\u2019s 2025 tour of England, as part of a workload management strategy. Earlier, The Indian Express had also reported the likelihood of Bumrah being rested for the second match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side, England have received a major boost with the return of Jofra Archer, who has been added to the squad for the second Test. Archer\u2019s inclusion comes in the absence of Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson and marks his return to Test cricket<\/a> after four years. England currently lead the five-match series 1-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
