Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ended their 18-year wait for an IPL title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS)<\/a> by six runs at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, claiming the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 championship for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Batting first, RCB had a shaky start. Phil Salt, who looked promising, was dismissed early after scoring just 16 runs. Virat Kohli anchored the innings with 43 runs but scored at a slow pace. Mayank Agarwal (24) and captain Rajat Patidar (26) showed some promise but failed to build on their starts, leaving RCB struggling at 131 for four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam Livingstone (25) and Jitesh Sharma (24) tried to accelerate the innings but were dismissed like the other batters. In the end, Romario Shepherd\u2019s late hitting helped RCB post a total of 190 for nine. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS, taking three wickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, Punjab Kings began their chase well, with openers Priyansh Arya (24) and Prabhsimran Singh (26) putting on 43 runs for the first wicket. However, RCB fought back strongly, dismissing both openers and PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josh Inglis contributed a solid 39 to keep Punjab in the game but was dismissed at a crucial moment, leaving PBKS<\/a> at 98 for four. Shashank Singh\u2019s 61 kept hopes alive, but he lacked sufficient support from the other end. RCB continued to take wickets at key intervals, eventually restricting Punjab to 184 for seven. This six-run victory secured RCB\u2019s maiden IPL title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
