Harbhajan Singh Confident Kohli and Rohit Will Drive India’s Success in Australia. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed excitement over the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. The cricketer-turned-commentator believes both stars are likely to deliver outstanding performances and play a key role in India’s victories.

Kohli and Rohit are making their comeback to the national side after a break, having last featured in international cricket during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March. In May, both announced their retirement from Test cricket, focusing solely on India’s ODI squad moving forward.

India will face Australia in a three-match ODI series, beginning on October 19 at the Perth Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the series, Shubman Gill has taken over as India’s ODI captain, replacing Rohit Sharma

Speaking with JioHotstar, Harbhajan Singh praised Virat Kohli, emphasizing that there are no doubts about the star’s fitness and expressing excitement to see him back in action for the upcoming Australia series.

“Please don’t ask about Virat’s fitness—he’s a guru in that regard. Everyone follows his routine. There’s absolutely no concern about his fitness; he’s fit, probably fitter than many of his teammates. In today’s international cricket, he’s arguably one of the fittest players out there. I’m really looking forward to seeing him back on the field,” Harbhajan said.

He added, “Fans have missed watching him, and I personally hope he continues in the One-Day International format for a while longer because he still has so much to give. When he retired from Test cricket, I genuinely felt he had four to five years left to not just play, but dominate—because that’s the kind of batter he is.”

The 45-year-old also believes that both Kohli and Rohit Sharma will shine against Australia and help India secure victories.

“He’s heading to Australia, his favorite batting ground, and I’m confident he’ll showcase his skills there again. We’ve seen him score heavily in those conditions before, and I believe he’ll do it once more. The same goes for Rohit—I’m excited to see both these legends score big for India and lead the team to wins,” Harbhajan concluded.

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who retired from international cricket in 2021, expressed hope that Virat Kohli would register two centuries in the upcoming three ODIs in Australia, where the star batter has enjoyed considerable success.

“When you perform against the best, that’s when you earn respect, and he’s done exactly that—especially with those hundreds in Australia and by taking on the responsibility of leading the team. Those are the challenges he thrives on,” Harbhajan said.

“Australia has always been his favourite hunting ground, and now he’s returning after the IPL. I’m really excited to watch him bat in these three ODIs, and hopefully, he can score at least two centuries for India,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last played competitive cricket during IPL 2025 in June. Last month, Rohit underwent fitness tests at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru and has been training in Mumbai in recent days.
