Mohammed Siraj has emerged as one of India’s most dependable pacers in recent Test cricket. The right-arm fast bowler recently shared some invaluable advice he received from veteran captain MS Dhoni on handling criticism and online trolling. Siraj revealed that Dhoni had told him that while fans will celebrate his successes, they will also be quick to criticize him when he struggles.
Mohammed Siraj has been in outstanding form for India in Tests. In the first Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad, he recorded figures of 4/40 and 3/31. He has also been included in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia.
Reflecting on Dhoni’s guidance during his early days in the national team, Mohammed Siraj said it has remained with him throughout his career. “I remember when I joined the India team, MS Dhoni told me, ‘Kisi ki baaton mein nahin aana. Jab tu acha karega, toh poori duniya tumhare saath rahegi, aur jab kharaab karega, yahi duniya tujhe gaali degi.’ (Don’t pay attention to what others say. When you perform well, the whole world will be with you, and when you don’t, they will criticize you),” Siraj told Indian Express’ Idea Exchange.
Mohammed Siraj Opens Up About No Longer Seeking External Validation

Mohammed Siraj revealed that while he was initially affected by both harsh criticism and fan admiration, he has since adopted a “don’t care” mindset. He emphasized that he no longer looks to others for approval, valuing the opinions of his family and teammates above all else.
“People change so quickly. I decided I don’t need outside validation. What matters to me is what my teammates and family think—those are the people who truly matter. I don’t care about others’ opinions,” Siraj explained.
Mohammed Siraj recently starred for India on the England tour, claiming 23 wickets across all five Test matches. He delivered impressive performances, especially while Jasprit Bumrah featured in only three games during the series.
