The Indian cricket team emerged victorious in the Asia Cup 2025, defeating Pakistan by five wickets in a thrilling final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Winning the tournament without losing a single match highlighted India’s dominance throughout the competition.
Asia Cup: Pakistan got off to a strong start, with Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46) putting on a commanding 84-run opening partnership. Both batters played aggressively, keeping the Indian bowlers on the back foot and finding gaps all over the field. Farhan notched his second consecutive fifty against India, while Fakhar provided stability to the innings.
However, Pakistan’s momentum was halted by a brilliant spin comeback from India. Kuldeep Yadav ran through the batting lineup, claiming four wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel chipped in with two wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah also struck as Pakistan collapsed from 113/1 to 146 all out, losing nine wickets for just 33 runs.
India’s chase started shakily. In-form Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for just five in the second over, and captain Suryakumar Yadav, struggling for form, fell for one, leaving India reeling at 10/2.
Asia Cup: Shubman Gill, who looked in good touch, unfortunately threw away his wicket, leaving three Indian batsmen back in the pavilion during the power play. With the team under pressure, Tilak Varma (69*) and Sanju Samson (24) steadied the innings with a brilliant 57-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Sanju fell in the 13th over, but Tilak continued to anchor the innings, smashing a composed fifty under pressure. Shivam Dube (33) played a crucial role as well, adding 60 runs alongside Tilak. With just ten runs required off the final over, Tilak delivered a sensational finish, guiding India home with five wickets to spare.
