Arshdeep Singh conceded just two runs in the Super Over against Sri Lanka. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan praised Arshdeep for his heroics in India’s clash with Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup 2025, describing the pacer as “cool as ice” and advocating for his inclusion in the final against Pakistan on 28th September.

Irfan Pathan remarks came after Arshdeep played a crucial role in India’s victory during the Super Four stage. Although he was hit for runs in the first two overs, he bounced back strongly in the final two, helping India level the match.

In the Super Over, Arshdeep was simply exceptional—conceding only two runs while dismissing both Sri Lankan batters. His brilliant performance ensured that India reached the final undefeated in the tournament.

“Shoulder to shoulder with Bumrah, he delivers those yorkers” – Irfan Pathan on Arshdeep Singh

Praising Arshdeep Singh, Irfan Pathan drew a parallel between the left-arm pacer and Jasprit Bumrah, noting his ability to bowl crucial yorkers in the death overs. He also emphasized that the team management should include him in every match.

“Irfan Pathan; First of all, he’s as cool as ice. Under pressure, he asks for the ball. He bowls when it matters, and whenever it’s the last over, he nails those yorkers. Shoulder to shoulder with Bumrah, he delivers them. He’s a bowler of that quality. I’ve been saying this from day one — it’s not just about today.

“He should always be in the playing XI because there are moments when you need yorkers from both ends. You saw it today — the match went right down to the wire,” Irfan told broadcasters after the game.

Irfan Pathan also highlighted how the team’s focus on batting depth has often left Arshdeep on the bench, stressing that in his team, the left-arm pacer would always feature.

“The team thought they needed longer batting, and if you want that, Shivam Dube comes in as an all-rounder. But when he plays, Arshdeep misses out. In my team, Arshdeep will always be there. I’ve said this from day one.”

Arshdeep recently became the first Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20Is. However, given India’s combination in the tournament, he may remain on the bench for the final.
