Yashasvi Jaiswal Scores 559 Runs in IPL 2025 but Misses Asia Cup 2025 Squad. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who smashed 559 runs in IPL 2025, has spoken about his exclusion from India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. He acknowledged that such decisions are beyond his control and emphasized that his focus remains on preparation and performance.
The announcement of the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025 sparked widespread debate, particularly regarding team selection. Despite Jaiswal’s impressive T20I record and stellar IPL season, he was left out of the final 15-member squad.
Many were surprised by the omission, as Jaiswal is regarded as a versatile, all-format player for India. Instead, Shubman Gill was preferred, with Jaiswal named among the standbys. Interestingly, prior to Asia Cup 2025, Gill had last featured in a T20I in 2024.
“It’s All in the Selectors’ Hands” – Yashasvi Jaiswal on Asia Cup 2025 Snub

Reflecting on his exclusion from the Asia Cup 2025 squad, Yashasvi Jaiswal candidly acknowledged that team combination played a role in the decision. Yet, he remained optimistic about his future, confidently asserting that his opportunity will come. Speaking to Mashable India, he said:
“It’s all in the selectors’ hands. They consider the team combination. I’ll keep doing my thing, and I know my time will come. Until then, I’ll focus on working on myself and improving my game,” Jaiswal stated.
Yashasvi Jaiswal T20I record is hard to ignore. In 23 matches, he has amassed 723 runs at an impressive strike rate of 164.31, averaging 36.15, with five half-centuries and a century to his name. In the recent IPL, he was Rajasthan Royals’ top scorer, accumulating 559 runs in 14 matches.
Meanwhile, in Yashasvi Jaiswal absence, Shubman Gill has struggled with the bat for India in Asia Cup 2025. The vice-captain has failed to make an impact in the last two games and will be eager to turn his fortunes around in the Super Four stage.
