Michael Vaughan Predicts South Africa to Win ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a bold prediction for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, tipping host nation South Africa to lift the coveted trophy.
Michael Vaughan forecast comes in the wake of South Africa’s dominant performances against England in the ongoing ODI series. Under Temba Bavuma’s leadership, the Proteas have delivered two stunning victories, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Fresh off their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 triumph, South Africa appear to be in unstoppable form. They first defeated Australia in a commanding ODI series and have continued their sensational run against England.
In the first ODI at Headingley, Leeds, South Africa crushed England by seven wickets, bowling them out for just 131 and chasing the target with more than 30 overs to spare. They followed this up with another thrilling performance in the second ODI at Lord’s, London. Batting first, the Proteas posted 330, then narrowly defended it to win by five runs, clinching the series with one match remaining.
With such momentum, Michael Vaughan believes South Africa are well-placed to carry their dominance into the 2027 World Cup on home soil.
