Rishabh Pant suffered a foot fracture during the Manchester Test and has been ruled out for six weeks. The injury, a fractured toe, occurred in India’s thrilling 2-2 draw against England, the final match of their recently concluded series. Rishabh Pant has not played since the fourth Test and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
The incident happened at Old Trafford when Pant attempted one of his signature reverse sweeps against England’s Chris Woakes. Misjudging the delivery, he was struck on the foot, resulting in a severe fracture. He left the field on a medi-cart due to bleeding, and subsequent scans confirmed the fracture. Remarkably, Pant returned to the crease at 37 and scored 54 before being dismissed by Jofra Archer.
Rishabh Pant was subsequently ruled out of the fifth Test and is likely to miss the Asia Cup 2025, as well as the two-match Test series against the West Indies in October.
Despite the injury, Rishabh Pant finished the series with 479 runs in four matches, averaging 68.42, including two centuries and three fifties. He became only the second wicket-keeper batter, after Andy Flower, to score two centuries in a single Test match, achieving the milestone in the series opener at Headingley, Leeds
