ENG vs IND: All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy did help a bit. But, he could not last long. Despite taking three important wickets in the match, his performance with the bat is under question. Meanwhile, former Indian player Dilip Vengsarkar has demanded that Nitish Kumar Reddy be dropped before the next match.
ENG vs IND: The team needs bowlers like Arshdeep and Kuldeep
The former cricketer said that the Indian team should pick a player like Arshdeep Singh, who performs as well as any other player with the ball. Vengsarkar also questioned the place of Washington Sundar and said that only specialist bowlers should be selected. Players like left-arm orthodox spinner Kuldeep Yadav are suitable.
Talking to Revsports, Dilip Vengsarkar said, “I would drop Nitish Kumar Reddy and maybe one more player to make room for Arshdeep. I think Siraj and Bumrah should retain their place.”
“Kuldeep Yadav can also play in place of Washington Sundar. You need five bowlers to win a Test match. If your six batsmen are unable to score well, then the bowlers have to take responsibility. You cannot win a Test match with part-time bowlers.”
Karun Nair should get another chance
Dilip Vengsarkar, who played 116 Test matches for India, also reacted on Karun Nair and said, “Karun Nair is a good player. He has shown his potential but, he has to convert his scores of 30 and 40 into big scores. He is an experienced player and knows what he has to do. I would like to give him one more Test match to prove himself. He is capable of scoring a century and I hope he will do so in the next match.”
