Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a brilliant century in the fourth Youth ODI against England.
14-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has proved his talent in England as well after making a splash in the IPL. He revealed that his next goal is to score a double century in ODI cricket. The idea came when he was dismissed for 143 runs in the fourth Youth ODI against England Under-19. In this innings, Vaibhav holds the world record for the fastest century (in 52 balls) and the youngest century in Youth ODIs.

BCCI’s video and Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s inspiration
BCCI shared a video of Vaibhav Suryavanshi on its social media account, in which this young player is talking about his record and next goal. Vaibhav said, “I did not know that I have made a record. Our team manager Ankit sir told me about it.” Vaibhav has received deep inspiration from Indian Test captain Shubman Gill. He told that he had seen Gill’s double century innings of 269 runs in the Edgbaston Test. Vaibhav said, “I got a lot of inspiration from Gill. He did not leave the game even after scoring 100 and 200 runs and took the team to a strong position.”
Regret of getting out on 143 runs
About his 143-run innings, Vaibhav said that he could have played a longer innings. “I had a lot of time, 20 overs were left. There was a shot in which I was not fully dedicated, due to which I got out.” In this innings, he hit 13 fours and 10 sixes in 78 balls, due to which India scored 363/9.
Target of double century
About his next target, Vaibhav said, “In the next match, I will try to score 200 runs and play the entire 50 overs. The more runs I score, the more the team will benefit. My focus will be on playing the entire match.” This ambition of his reflects his talent and confidence.
Record-breaking achievement
With this innings, Vaibhav broke the Indian record for the youngest century in Youth ODIs, which was previously held by Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz scored a century against South Africa Under-19 in 2013 at the age of 15 years and 338 days. Apart from this, Vaibhav also broke the world record of Bangladesh’s Nazmul Hussain Shanto, who scored a century in 2013 at the age of 14 years and 241 days. Vaibhav achieved this feat at the age of 14 years and 100 days, making him the youngest centurion in Youth ODIs.
