Wiaan Mulder: South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder revealed his heartfelt chat with Australia’s Travis Head after their World Test Championship (WTC) final match at Lord’s on June 14. While the seam-bowling all-rounder said Head was chuffed at the Proteas’ victory, he was equally broken by Australia not winning it.
Wiaan Mulder: Head and Mulder were notably part of the SunRisers Hyderabad during IPL 2025, spending significant time during their stint. The all-rounder played a vital role in South Africa’s win, both with bat and ball in their second innings. He dismissed Head during Australia’s second innings.
Wiaan Mulder: Speaking to ICC Digital, the 27-year-old reflected that the sportsmanship shown by Australia was amazing to see, referring to them as true champions. He said:
“Heady is one of the top blokes around and Patty is also a great guy. I actually spoke to him (Head) last night on the phone. He was chuffed for the way it went for us. Obviously he was broken that they didn’t win, but I think overall, the spirit of the game was really as high or as good as it could be. You think about the Aussies, you always think about them as being a little bit nasty at times, but I think these guys are true champions.”

Reflecting on the celebrations, Mulder said the last couple of days have been well and truly unforgettable. The right-hander added:
“It’s been a very, very good couple of days. Celebrations like I haven’t had before, so as a team I think we’re super chuffed and no better place to do it than at the Home of Cricket.”
In the process, Temba Bavuma also continued his unbeaten run as Test captain.
