IPL 2025 Final: This marks RCB’s fourth final appearance after 2009, 2011, and 2016, while PBKS are contesting their second IPL title match since 2014. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final, guaranteeing a new champion this year. Virender Sehwag, Both teams have been part of the IPL since its inception in 2008. Despite reaching the finals multiple times, the trophy has always slipped away from both sides. Whichever team wins this time will finally end a long wait for their first IPL title.
Ahead of the match, former Punjab Kings captain Virender Sehwag humorously predicted the likely winner of IPL 2025.
Virender Sehwag: Virat Kohli and RCB’s Quest for IPL Glory

Virender Sehwag expressed his belief that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will win the IPL this season. He shared how his support for teams often seems to jinx them, citing examples like Gujarat Titans losing to Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings falling to RCB in Qualifier 1. Even when he supported MI against PBKS in Qualifier 2, the team lost. When asked directly who he supports, Sehwag confirmed, “RCB.” He added that this pattern also applies to the Indian team—whenever he openly supports them, they tend to lose.
If RCB clinch the IPL 2025 title, it would be an especially significant moment for star batter Virat Kohli, who has dedicated 18 years of his senior cricket career to the franchise. Rajat Patidar, RCB’s first-time captain, acknowledged the importance of the victory for Kohli, calling him one of the country’s cricket legends.
Virender Sehwag: RCB has reached the IPL final three times (2009, 2011, and 2016) but lost on each occasion, despite Kohli’s individual brilliance. Patidar emphasized the team’s focus on playing their best cricket rather than being overwhelmed by the final’s stage or the attention on Kohli.
He also spoke about the strong fan support that RCB enjoys even when playing away matches, which gives the players a home-ground feeling. Virender Sehwag, Patidar said, “Wherever we go, we feel that the crowd is a home ground for us,” appreciating the love and support from fans over the years.
