Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill shared his thoughts on the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Reflecting on the game, Gill highlighted the challenges they faced after the rain interruption and explained the tactical changes they had to implement due to the slow pitch conditions. He also expressed his satisfaction with the victory.
“There was a bit of chaos when we went out to bat after the rain, but it’s always great to secure a win. Our game plans for the powerplay were different, and the atmosphere felt almost like a Test match. We aimed to accelerate after the powerplay, but the rain kept disrupting. The pitch was slightly slow, making it difficult to play big shots. So, we decided to take our chances only when the ball was in our zone,” Gill stated during the post-match presentation.

Shubman Gill, named Player of the Match for his composed 43-run innings, expressed mixed emotions after the win, highlighting the team’s collapse but celebrating the thrilling finish.
“It was frustrating; we were ahead at one stage, but we lost 4/20. But the universe gave us a chance before two minutes, and we took it. When the match goes till the last ball, when you chase 150, every contribution becomes important. Wins like these get you through in these big tournaments like IPL,” Gill remarked. He also praised Rashid Khan, who bowled impressively despite returning from injury, demonstrating his resilience.
The rain initially interrupted the game at the start of GT’s innings and again in the 14th over. A final downpour in the 18th over saw GT trailing the par score by five runs. However, they managed a remarkable comeback, moving to the top of the IPL points table and ending MI’s six-match winning streak.
