Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 49 of IPL 2025 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. PBKS successfully chased down a target of 191, winning by four wickets, thanks to fifties from captain Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh.
CSK, opting to bat first after losing the toss, lost both their openers early. However, Sam Curran’s brilliant 88 and Dewald Brevis’ 32 helped CSK post a competitive total. In the 19th over, PBKS spinner Yuzvendra Chahal claimed a stunning hat-trick, taking four wickets overall, while Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen each bagged two wickets. CSK were bowled out for 190, and with the loss, they were eliminated from the playoff race.

After the 49th match of IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) remain at the bottom of the points table, with just four points and a Net Run Rate (NNR) of -1.211, effectively eliminating them from the tournament.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings (PBKS) moved up to second place with 13 points and a positive NRR of +0.199.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) occupy the top spot with 14 points, while Mumbai Indians (MI) sit in third with 12 points. Gujarat Titans (GT) hold the fourth position, also with 12 points.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are in ninth place with six points.
