Aakash Chopra’s Cheeky Remark on Rohit Sharma’s Role as Impact Player for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra had a playful take on Rohit Sharma’s current role for Mumbai Indians during their IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants. Throughout this season, Rohit has appeared exclusively as an Impact Player, batting for MI but skipping fielding duties.
During Sunday’s match, Rohit opened the batting for Mumbai and was later replaced on the field by Jasprit Bumrah before the innings break. Commenting on-air, Chopra joked that Rohit was living every young cricketer’s dream getting to bat without having to bowl or field.
“Rohit Sharma won’t be fielding anymore. I read somewhere that it’s every kid’s dream to bat without bowling. Rohit is living that dream he bats as the Impact Player, scores runs, and then Bumrah takes over on the field,” said Chopra during commentary.

IPL 2025 Following Mumbai Indians’ win against Lucknow Super Giants, MI captain Hardik Pandya applauded debutant Corbin Bosch for his outstanding all-round performance at Wankhede Stadium.
Making his IPL 2025 debut, Corbin impressed with a quickfire 20 runs off just 10 balls, striking at a rate of 200, featuring two boundaries and a six. He also made an impact with the ball, picking up one wicket while giving away only 26 runs in his four-over spell.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Hardik Pandya said, “The momentum is with us, and everyone is contributing. The youngsters set the tone, and we played for them. Bosch came in and smashed crucial runs; the bowlers executed their plans perfectly. Good teams are built when every player steps up. From Ryan, Will, to Bosch and myself everyone is playing their part. Today was the right time for Bosch to step up with the ball too. A star from the victorious South Africa U-19 squad that won the 2014 World Cup, Bosch was named Player of the Match in the final after an impressive 4/15 bowling performance. Since then, he has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket and made his international debut for South Africa in 2024.
