Test cricket has always been a contest of patience, skill, and resilience, and one of the most significant indicators of a team’s batting prowess is the number of times it has scored 500 or more runs in an innings. Achieving a 500+ total in Test cricket is no small feat; it reflects a combination of individual brilliance, team cohesion, and the ability to dominate the opposition over multiple sessions. Throughout cricket history, several teams have managed to breach this milestone repeatedly, but five teams stand out for their consistency and dominance: Australia, England, India, West Indies, and Pakistan.
Test Cricket: Pakistan – 57

Pakistan entered international cricket after the 1947 partition from India. Traditionally a bowler-dominant side in Tests, Pakistan have managed to score 500+ runs in an innings on 57 occasions. They won 26 of those matches and lost just four. Their first-ever 500+ total came against New Zealand in 1995 at Gaddafi Stadium.
West Indies – 67

Once the most dominant force in Test cricket, the West Indies have recorded 500+ innings 67 times. They won 28 matches after crossing the 500-run mark and lost only once. Their first 500+ innings was against England, and their highest-ever total is 790, achieved against Pakistan in 1958.
India – 89

India has become one of the leading sides in modern Test cricket, scoring 500+ runs 89 times. They have won 41 of these matches and lost just two. India’s first 500+ innings was against New Zealand at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) in Delhi in 1955, and their highest-ever Test total is 759, scored against England in 2016.
England – 116

England have crossed 500 runs in an innings 116 times. Being part of the first-ever Test match in 1877, they won 57 of these games and lost only two. England’s first 500+ innings came against arch-rivals Australia in 1897, and their highest total is 903, achieved against Australia in 1938.
Australia – 151

Australia, who played in the first-ever Test in 1877, hold the record for the most 500+ innings in Test cricket, achieving it 151 times. They have won 103 of these matches and lost only three. Their first 500+ innings came against England in 1884, and their highest team total is 758, scored against the West Indies in 1955.
