The move is being seen as a deliberate provocation, seemingly intended to justify actions that have already drawn widespread backlash.
PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi Sparks Controversy with Ronaldo Gesture Amid Rauf-Farhan Outrage

Mohsin Naqvi: Amid ongoing outrage over Pakistan cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan’s provocative gestures during their Asia Cup 2025 match against India last Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi fueled further controversy on Wednesday by sharing a video of Cristiano Ronaldo making a ‘fighter jet’ gesture on social media. The post is being seen as a deliberate provocation, seemingly justifying actions that have already drawn strong backlash.
During the Super Four game at Dubai International Stadium, Rauf repeatedly made controversial gestures toward Indian spectators, including multiple fighter-jet signals near the boundary rope and a ‘6-0’ hand sign after dismissing Sanju Samson—a reference to the false claim that six Indian Air Force aircraft were shot down during Operation Sindoor in May. Rauf was even heard shouting ‘6-0’ during Pakistan’s training at the ICC Academy in Dubai the previous day. Adding to the tension, opener Sahibzada Farhan celebrated a fifty with a ‘gun-firing’ gesture.

BCCI Seeks Action Against Rauf and Farhan for Provocative Behaviour

India and Pakistan could meet for a third time in the Asia Cup 2025, potentially in the final. This fixture would be confirmed if Pakistan defeats Bangladesh in their final Super Four game in Dubai on Thursday. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian side has already beaten Pakistan twice in the tournament.
